Students will continue to work with the Montessori apparatus, learning more advanced materials and exploring different concepts and ideas. In Language Arts, students are refining their reading skills, learning the parts of speech, reading and spelling a multitude of different words and perfecting their printing skills. In Mathematics students will be exposed to advanced mathematical concepts such as time, addition and subtraction with multiple numbers, printing numbers over 100, more and less numbers as well as fractions.
Cultural Studies topics explored as a class include lifecycle of a butterfly, continents, flags of the world, health and nutrition, the human skeleton, land forms and a variety of other topics inspired from geography, history and social studies. The Montessori Method of education introduces a wide variety of subjects in an integrated way and the information obtained is a base for further studies as the children mature through the elementary years. |
